I just got my hands on an EL police ecu. Now I have a few issues.. it changes into 4th gear at 55km/h.. my original EL ecu didn't change into 4th until at least 65km/h. I thought it was supposed to be the other way around!
I'm thinking that because I have a wagon, and the police ecu is probably for a sedan.. maybe this is screwing things up??? Why is this happening? Help please!!

ok.. well what do u think is screwing up my shifts?
it gets into upshift/downshift cycles when just cruising around 55km/h... |

my XR8 is ex police, and it also shifts early too when not being flogged, but when being flogged it won't change gear until the needle just about hits the redline?
also check you're TPS is set propperly- .55-.96 volts, the higher the longer it will stay in gear, so just keep turning it up till you are happy with the change, don't get too carried away, as you will find you have to lift you're foot off the throttle for a gear change- this will eventually give you the s**t kenny

That's the thing... mine definetly doesnt go anywhere near the redline when flat-footed in power or econ mode :\

do you have 1 or 2 TPS units on the throttle body?

No idea, I'll check tomorrow morning. I have a EL GLi wagon.. so i'll have whatever they have normally. |

the reason I ask, is if you only have the 1, if you adjust the TPS you will also need to reset you're ECU that is if it needs adjusting , if not you will have flat spot probs & run rich down low.
