Ive installed EL Ghia door trims in my ED, and those rivets are a f**k prick. Half my doors are those, the other half I used the white plastic ones that the EA-ED and EF-EL interior door handles screw into. They fit in the same holes, except they just slot in. You need the EF-EL door handle screws (EA-ED are allen head so dont bother) instead and the plastic clips of course.

Oh when I went and tryed to buy those rivets from Ford, they only had 6. So they ordered another 2, who also offered to have it sent to a dealer who was closer to me, which was a Toyota one (dealers owned by the same mob) They said it would take 2 days, a week later I rock by for my rivets, and they havnt seen or heard anything, and the guy who ordered them was on holidays, plus the part number wasnt on any of their computers (as you'd expect being a Toyota dealer)
30mins of calls back and forth to the original dealer, a Ford warehouse in Sydney, and conversations with whoever out the back, I finally get my rivets re-orded.
Luckily I had my reciept showing I had payed (granted it was only $6, but I still would of snapped)
A day later my rivets had arrived at Toyota!

And after all that I had the sh!ts with installing them after 4 and p****d them off.

The rivets have a proper thread in it, where as the plastic ones dont, its just a hole that requires a 'self tapper' type screw (that has a sharp wide thread).

But other than that I dont know why Ford went for the rivets, that dont secure any better, plus its made of aluminium which is easy to thread if you dont have the trim on properly. The plastic ones arnt as durable, but its not like you're pulling the trim off every other day.
