Hi all,
I have a problem with the A/C in my EF. The fan speed switch only seems to have 2 settings that work, the vent setting and the boost setting. When it is on 1, 2 or 3, it doens't increase the fan speed at all. It just works as if I still have the switch in the vent position. What would be the possible cause of this?? I have the normal A/C, not the climate control setup. Any help would be appreciated Cheers Chris

Behind the glovebox theres a small black module, (between the air duct and aircon evap)
This is the fan speed resistor, take it out (2 screws) remove all the s**t and leaves (don't use a screw driver or u might puncture the aircon evap) Make sure the 'coils' arent broken, touching each other etc. this is the most likely cause, if not... It maybe the switch itself on the dash, and 35bux should cover this for either one if they're shagged

Sounds like your resistor assy, or wiring to it. Vent or full boost doesn't use the resistors, hence my reasoning. The resistor assy is situated on the airbox - remove your glovebox lid and you should be able to see it.
I've got one here out of my XH as I've fitted climate control you can have, but it would be easier for you to visit pick N payless or similar and get one - bring a meter along to check it as well . .

I have pulled the glovebox lid off and can see 2 black boxes. Which one do I need to check, and roughly where are the 2 screws for it??
I have a repair manual, but it does not have anything about this in there Cheers Chris

Thanks for that.
I hqave found it and unplugged it. All seems fine, except for one thing... I have notices that there are 2 plug holes on the controller, and only one plug connected. Should it be like this?? If not, where would I find the second plug???

No problemo. Should only be one plug. Post a pic if you can.

I have replaced the resistor assy. The second "socket" had a single pin on it, but there was no plug on it. I thought that something was missing. I bought a new assy from pick and payless for $10.
It is already in the car, and all is fine. Thanks for all your help. Chris.
