Finally got a nine inch diff set up for a xe/xf falcon

3.25s with a mini spool

My question is - Will the disc brake set up fit onto the diff i have on my borg warner or do i just stick with the drum set up?

Would rather go with the disc set up

from what i can remember, it physically bolts on, but the handbrake wont work..... also a couple of other issues but i'm too tired to remember atm

The XF disks were the biggest rear disks and calipers on a falcon except for the optional Brembo's on AU T series and BA models. Keep them if you can at all. The only mod you may want to do would be to slot the rotors.

answer1. if the nine inch is a drum setup the xf discs and calipers will not fit the diff housing on ur nine inch needs to be modified and the bearinsgs and seals on the nine axles have to be modified also to accept the xf style of bearing and seals.

answer2 . if the nine inch is a xb or xc style disc brake setup again the xf brakes will not fit , the disc brake nine inch uses a double row roller ball bearing style bearing and seal is a press fit into the nine inch housing and seals of the axle shaft after the bearing and retainer

where the xf seal is located in front of the bearing and retainer

a totally different setup

so no nine inch diff will accept straight fittment of xf brakes and calipers with out modifications

Now im make a assumption here i gather ur fitting a nine inch into a xf falcon sedan that is on control arms and a watts rear end where the nine inch used to sit on leaf springs again u will need modifcations of the brackets to make the diff fit in to a xf

when u had the diff modified u should of told the person who did the job u wanted the disc brakets and calipers done to

Depends how the nine inch was made.

Is it an early housing with the brackets welded on or has it been cut and had the later model axle tubes with brackets and plates welded on? Are they large finned drumms or are the the smaller XE/XF drums?
