Gday, I need to power 2 12" Type R's. I was thinking about buying the Alpine MRD m1005 for this application.

Is this the best choice? Would anything be better in this price range?

Thanks.

ive got 2 MRD-1005 powering 4x 12" Type R woofers - goes great - if i had the cash at the time I would have gone 1x per woofer or even per coil but yeh. Excellent amp so far.

Good amp for your application. I think there are more powerfull amps out there cheaper which i would look at but if your looking to stay Alpine then the 1005 or 1001 are fine.

Only thing is they are not 1ohm stable or strapable + dont think they come qith remote gain control either but could be worng on that?

No you right aaron no remote gain control.

And yes no 1 ohm stable...but when i went all alpine gear (well almost 100% alpine) there was no need for that low an impedenance.

Just wish i had the cash to have one per coil :P but no need for SQL....if i was goin for huge SPL figures then maybe. :P
