Hey,
I just received an EL falcon GLi and am absolutely busting to get stuck into it, however as I havnt had much experience with the I6 i'm looking for a bit of advice on how i should go about this.
From what i have heard these engines respond well to forced induction, and that the bottom end is fairly strong stock (one source saying the pistons are good for 400HP and the rods 500). At the moment i am looking at the stage one turbo package from snort performance and am wondering how my engine will stand up to it and what modifications i might need. I am only looking for a mild turbo set up at the moment, nothing too radical as i want to keep it easy driving on the street, just with a bit of extra go.
I know there is the sticky thread at the top of the forum, but it fails to mention whether the use of dished pistons is needed, how reliable the engine is etc
Any help would be greatly appreciated, cheers nick.

dished pistons are needed to lower the compression.

with a mild setup the standard comp should be fine

u will just need the kit and a aftermarket ecu, bigger fuel pump, bigger injecters. and u should have a reliable 320+rwhp

The standard engine will hold at least 15psi with a good tune. I was running 15psi into my EF and the engine had over 260,000 ks on it.
I know of a few guys running the snort kits with the standard engine management, fuel pump and injectors and making around 180 rwkw on less then 10psi so you should be fine. Just make sure that you get a rising rate regulator from Snort, without one of them there is no way your car will be getting enough fuel.

Ooo and an intercooler is a must..

There is a guy on fordforums.com.au that is running a stage 1 or 2 snort kit with standard engine management and injectors and is running low 13 sec quarter mile, I think his name is evilelf or something like that..

Good luck
