Hey lads,
Had my cracked head replaced about 2 weeks ago and since ive noticed that it takes about 10 minutes, enough time for me to get to work on the other side of town, before the engine reaches normal operating temperature. Is this normal? my fuel economy around town is average, would this be causing it? Secondly, she is not starting as well as she used to, especially after she's been sitting for half an hour or so. What is going on? after $2,500 worth of work in a month she should be runnign like new...unimpressed!

sounds like the thermostat is removed if it takes that long to warm up.
either that or the cooling system is cleaned out so well!

either that or the cooling system is cleaned out so well! the car would never reach opperating temp if the thermostat was removed.

I have no thermostat in my EA.
At most it makes it to the first mark above the blue square. on a Hot day. I didn't put one back in hope that it might aid in stopping blowing head gaskets, Does it make much difference if it is not getting to correct operating temp? Doesn't seem to on mine.

no thermostat=excessive fuel consumption as it is in start up rich mode all the time and added wear on engine internals as the oil is too cold to do its job.

my car was a real s*** on fuel too, would take ages to heat up properly. All i did was simply buy a genuine ford thermostat and now she is all apples...
