Hey guys, I bought and installed a Fully Adjustable Shiftkit from Shiftkits.com.au. Yess my first real mod (besides EL GT Snorkel) and it was pretty easy to install. The hardest part I must say was geting the black plastic cover off the ECU connector.

Now I understand that these babies make ur tranny shift firmer but mine gives a pretty violent kick when changing from 1st to 2nd. It's not so noticable shifting between other gears. This violent kick happens whether I have the knob in fully low or fully high position (although on fully high u can feel it noticably through 2nd-3rd aswell).

My question...is the shifting supposed to be SO firm? It feels really unhealthy and I don't want to be doing any damage to the tranny (rather than good). Also, I read that these kits can affect the rest of your drive train (diff. etc.)...is this the case?

I've left it off for now until I get some reassurance from you guys

supposedly it's good for your tranny as you get less slipage but it f**k your diff easy, just don't have it turned on 24/7 and look after the car you should be ok.

more strain on your diff but tranny should be fine untill your bands start slipping, once that happens TURN IT OFF

the firmer shift is better for ur 'box..the auto has clutches in it, so wen it changes firmer the clutches arent working as much, so theyll last longer...

i have had my shift kit turned on 247 for the last 4 years and no probs at all, just make sure you have a auto cooler.

I got a Towbar...and I read somewhere that if u get a Towbar u get two auto coolers. Confirm ?

Not the right thread but ive got a towbar as well as towing springs in the GL and only have one trans cooler. There is an easy way to find out if you have two.......look
