Martin, have you tried pricing a new one? IIRC they are cheaper than you would think although it will need painting.

Darin.

I got quoted $250 for a genuine fairmont front bar from my Local Ford...

For comparison, I was also quoted $120 (on sale) for ONE (that's 1 not a pair) of the EL XR door spats...!!!!

Just for another idea, I'm looking at getting Mick Webb (SVO) to do me a front bar. He prices them at ~$350 or $450 fitted. It's a skin that goes on below the striping and around the number plate...

Ah ok, so this must be one of the cheaper items over at ford spare parts... is this likely to be the same item as found on ozeparts?

I assume the new bar wouldnt include the support (i would assume this to be true for all new/aftermarket bars?).... what's invlolved in changing the support over?

Assuming the new bar has the raised mounting holes to bolt to the car it should be a very easy change over. This part is the main mount where the support connects to the bar (plus the plastic screws in the "roof" of the main air dam bit in the front bar) If your bar doesn't come with it (ie just a skin) then you'll have to cut and shut like I had to with mine (as pictuered) All the better reason to get a factory one if you can!

And yeah, that SVO bar looks hot. It wasn't until I lightened the picture up that I saw the detail of the front, I always assumed from other pictures I'd seen that it was just a 2 tone grey paint job! I'm not sure about the bit sticking out near the quarter panel though...
