i recently got back from a trip to brisbane where i was getting over 900k's to a tank.
i have also found my trip computer to be pretty accurate.

regarding the trip to townsville, if the ave l/100km was not reset then its not really telling you what it ave on the way back but the ave during the whole trip. if i couldn't get my car below 10l/100km on the highway then i'd be extremely dissappointed.

Any of you fellaz have a non standard cam in?

That economy is ridiculous, I was driving my EL Ghia like an absolute tightass and it didnt do any better than 13.8l/100. That is city driving but.

They are pretty s**t on fuel economy. Falcon and fuel economy shouldnt be used in the same sentence.

Even with my mods as below no improvement to fuel economy.

i almost made it back to melbourne from sydeny early this year.

I know someone with an EL futura. He has done Sydney to mel 100 times. He has an exhaust and K&N panel filter.

There is no way you can almost make it. You would be 300 km off. (at least)

thats pretty good for stop & go traffic. you use more fuel when you're moving the car from a stand still{ traffic}. go for a long country drive.

I put a pod filter on my mates vs commodore just to see what it would do.

What we did was fill the tank all the way up to the filler neck, drove from the bp servo on the western ring road at boundary road all the way to albury wodonga. We filled the tank again to the brim and drove back to the same servo (opposite side of the road).

We have done this trip before and we know that we get about 450km out of a tank, depending on traffic. We did the test on a sunday, drove up in the morning and home in the arvo. It was colder in the morning, bout 20 degrees and it got to 34 in the arvo.

After going from a standard filter to the $30 pod filter the fuel ecconomy increased to 500km out of the tank. Thinking that was really good we decided to buy a k&n panel filter from autobarn in albury. Fuel economy went back to where it was before, what the? It was hotter in the arvo but that shouldn't make for that much decrease with a new filter.

When we did the pod filter conversion we kept it inside the standard air box.
Not to be detered by k&n we then put my brand new k&n pod filter that i'm using for my megasquirt conversion in. This time we drove from my house and up to shepparton and back. Economy was 530km out of the tank.

So my $90 filter turned out to be the best. The panel filter was 120.

Yeah, the first thing I did to my XR6 when I purchased it, was put a K&N panel filter in it. Didn't notice a thing...

nah its possible, we would of pushed it to see how close we would of gotten we got 810km out of 1 tank. from sydney and sydney isnt 1100kms from melbourne, and adelaide is only 700 from melbourne.
