ok, here is a photo of my current sub box (wasnt initially designed for my car so it doesnt fit right)

Image

now, i want to remake it so the subs sit upright over that hump at the back of the boot. as i dont have a lot of boot room atm. the current box finishes flat with the rear seal for the boot lid. so only have about 40-50? cm deep boot!

few questions though.

1) should i mount the subs facing into the boot flat, or should i mount them facing into the cabin right up level (10cm? gap) with the back seats?

2) is there any danger to the subs mounting them in an unported box in close proximity firing into the seats?

3) will the amp be fine if i attach it to the the back of the sub box?

any other comments?

i hope to be able to get away with reusing some of my current sub box as it is fairly big.

im pretty sure thered be no drama mounting it close to the seats, i put a 12 inch mtx into a mate's el behind the seats and there's been no dramas at all.

as for mounting the smp on the back of the box, im pretty sure thats bad.

apparantly it gets the s**t shaken out of it and connections come loose and stuff like that.

my little brother (well when i say little he's 18) was talkin to a dude about mounting the amp on the sub box and the stereo dude nearly wigged out.

and no boot room? pfft

the box i got mine in fills up almost the entire boot, and i bet it sounds a hell of a lot worse then yours :P

yeh, i decided not to remake it, just put it in the to much effort basket.

ive turned em around, got myself about 5cm more room ;)

they sound better this way, just gotta get some grills to go over the subs so i can put s**t in the boot without damaging them.

any recommendation where to get soem 12" grills that are decent quality and how much they cost?

Here is some pics of my subs in my EL

I have had it like this for over a year.

The subs are up against the back seat.

I have plenty of boot space still

No problems with the amp on the box

Cheers
