Hey There folks, hopefully someone can help,
A Dealership tried to charge us $400+ to change over the spark plugs after they neglected to do it in the last "Full Service" Can get the plugs for about $120, does anyone know if they are simple to change over? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! |

You can get the plugs for the 1997 explorer from Repco, there are 2 type of plugs for the 97 explorer tho... there is 2 types of motors, a 4001cc and a 4009cc motor. the plugs beleive it or not are different. check either your rego papers or the plate on the drivers door for which capacity motor you have... tell them when you are buying the plugs which capacity motor you have.
As for changing the plugs... make sure the motor is cold changing the plugs is bit of a challangewith number 1 cylinder, air con pipes close to plugs, and number 5 i found easier to get to from under the car as the steering rack on the way from the top. BUT can be done easy enough. good luck na dhave FUN |
