I have a 95 EF GLi and when you start it it cranks over heaps before it starts. I thought it was the battery and got a new one and it still does it. Ford told me it could be the ignition switch. Any ideas why it's doing this.

It most likely would be the BEM, either its gotta dry joint in it and it doesn't send the ECU the signal to 'switch on'
or it could be the fuel pump itself not priming enough (try leaving the ignition on for a few sec's before cranking) and yes, it could be the ignition barrel, these have been known to break the backs off them and not give good contact

yeah i have tried leaving the ignition switch on and that doesn't help. I have just replaced the oil, oil filter, air filter, sparkplugs, fuel filter, lifters and battery and nothing has worked yet.

it could be the bem, see if u have spark while cranking it before it starts, if u do it isnt the BEM, however it could still be the ECU. I'd be looking at fuel pressures, its possible either the fuel pump or the pressure regulator is letting the fuel pressure drop too low (called leak down). this is because the fuel system should always have some pressure in it. Anyone who has changed a fuel filter will know what i mean about pressure still in the system, and will have also noticed the extra cranking time required to start after changing it. Put a fuel pressure guage on the car and watch what the pressures do leaving the car for an hour or 2 after running, if they drop below maybe 250-300kpa (and i could be off on the pressures for a falcon, check specs) its either fuel pump or pressure regulator.

being an EF thats not likely due to coil packs, but otherwise yes
