Nope - must be a Ticky ECU with a ticky engine. The timing may be different.

The engine will run fine without the tickford ecu, however, you probably wont get the MAXIMUM performance out of it, due to the different maps of the XR ecus'. Also, bear in mind that if you want to run an XR ecu, you will probably have to convert to smartlock if you dont already have it.

timing wont be a problem, but fuel will be. The XR6 engines run different fuel pressure and will run rich with a stock ECU - it will still work, but use more fuel and not get as much power.

The engine will run ok, but fueling will be out by 20% ish. Get a stock (non tickford) Fuel pressure reg and bolt it up to the motor and it will be apples.

If you've spent cash on the engine, why not spend a bit more and go for the correct ECU that will run it correctly?

You purchased the XR motor because of the extra performance and better motor (in general) over a non XR and you should be getting that performance.

With the incorrect ECU you may as well have just purchased a (pressumably) cheaper stock motor...

Just my opinion...

There is an ED XR6 Auto ECU on ebay at the moment.
Up to about $55 at the moment I think.
