Gday, does anyone have any photos of the AU and AU2 V8? I heard that the AUs had a different engine cover the the previous models? Is there a plate that just screws onto the existing intake manifold or plenum chamber to the left of the throttle body? The EL engine cover seems to hold in excessive heat. Also theres a few EL GT snorkels on ebay for $45, are these much larger in size to the standard EL V8 snorkel? I'd prefer to use one of these than get an AU tickford one and have to cut/heat plastic to get it in.

The AU series 1 had no engine cover, but did have the " 5 litre v8 " plate screwed to the inlet manifold. The AU 2 & 3 XR series had a fancy silver colored engine cover, that fixed itself to id say 2 mounting point on the engine. but also had the " 5 litre v8 " plate screwed to the inlet manifold.

The normal v8's would of not had and engine cover.

The EL cover does have for's and against's. and people will argue all day long about it, it's really personal choice.

The EL GT snorkel from memory isnt much larger than the EL XR snorkel but might be larger than the stock EL V8 snorkel.

I've recently fitted the AU3 XR8 snorkel to my EL2 XR8. with minimal fuss.

yep. it needs to be heated to avoid a pulley, and to attach to the car. I baked mine in the oven for 3 minutes at 200c and then attached it up and bent it where it needed to go, solved. altho i dont recomend it, but that was my inventive way.
