Awsome, thanx for that!!! I had the plan of getting 35% on the sides so that coppers still can see me (i think thats the rule, they have to be able to see the driver?) then they might not notice that the back is hella dark! I hope!!!

yeh i can see why its illegal. somtimes at night in the contary were there isnt any street lights, u need to drive around with your window open. u can see the lights of other cars but its hard to notice how far away they are

35% is the max legally u can have

some cops dont mind
some do it is those ones u have to worry about..

even if they dont give u a yellow for that

if u ever have to go to the pits the pit inspectors have a machine that they can check the % tint on a car's windows

bets of %35 all round i wish i could go darker but i know now cops cant say i have illeagal tint

I've heard only the two front windows are only allowed to be 35% max, but the rear 2 (and i assume the rear) are fine for limo tint. It's just so cops can see whoever's driving the car. Not sure if this is all true or not.

Also i heard that cops carry around those machines that attach to your window and give a reading of the light transmittence. I've just been lucky so far i haven't been pulled up, mine is a definate sticker job. Funny since the guy i bought it off was a cop, and he wouldn't even give me a straight answer to whether it was legal or not (even though i knew it wasn't :P)

hi
im not sure about other states but in nsw the legal tint is 35% .. but if your car is pre 1994 model you can have darker and window tinters will do darker but they will not give you a refund of any kind if it gets defected for some reason. and being pre 1994 they dont check the tint for rego ....

i just got mine done with 35% on side window and 15% on rear windows and it looks so cool!!!!

Hey Eayay,

Give this guy a call (Todd 0407 770 415), he works at a big tint shop, and does private jobs at his home (Bullcreek area).

I'm getting him to do my EL XR6 and/or my BA XR6T.

He did a wicked job on my EF, and he can offer whatever combo of tint you like for $240.

He can do darkest legal (35%), a shade under legal (20%), and Limo (5%).

He can also do different % tints between your back & side windows (eg. 20% on back, 35% sides, OR Limo on back, 20% sides)

All done beautifully to the edges too ...even Tint-a-Car couldn't fault it!

Hope this is of help.
