i've just bought a 03 Futura wgn and was planning on continueing with shell helix ultra as i've used it for years and when comparing data on websites it is one of the best BUT i noticed on the filler cap it says to use 10W 30. i only use full synthetic and after browsing a few auto stores noticed not much choice in this grade. ended up going with mobil 1. just interested to know what other people use. i think castrol do a 0/30 with their formula r. obviously because of the multivalve head they recommend the thinner oil.

does anyone know what the dealers use.

mobil will do but when i think mobil i normally associate it with holden and thats no good.

Castrol Forumla R is no more, replaced by Castrol Edge. FPV recomend Castrol Edge. However, when my brother was at the Ford dealer talkign to them (he has a 2004 XR6T manual), they said they ran the 0W-30 Edge in a few XR6T's, and they had some owners come back asking where there oil had disapeared to, and so not to use it. He's using the Penrite or Penzoil (can't remember which brand it is) Sin range...

mobil 1 is a damn good oil period
if used from new or a car with under 30,000kms
have personally seen a gen3 taxi on mobil 1 with over 300,000kms and it does not burn oil or have piston slap

the T3's are to have mobil 1 from ford

it doesn't realy matter what brand you use. as long as you only ever use that brand.

i'll be running motul in my car when the engine goes back in.

reason being even the FUCHS oil company will admit that Motul is the best oil you can buy. but of course Fuchs was second best.

not very often do you get one company say there product is second best to some one els.

use motul 300v in my CRF450
and will be using motul 8100 15w40 in my falcon.

and by the way having a mutli vlave head is not the reason for thinner oil.
AU falcons also have the use 10w30 on the oil cap. it's to do with the clearences the engine was built with and that you get less oil drag with thinner oil meaning better feul economy

for a semi syn the 4100 10w30
for full syn the 8100 10w30.

for the hardcore people out there that like a bit circut racing 300v
but 300v is about $75 for 3L hence why it only goes in my bike and 8100 goes in my car.
