most above statements i have to agree on, my turbo has 14.2/100k's and it has 7500k's on the clock, i am also running the 6spd. manual T56 and it gets a bit of a punt more than not, on a trip to newcastle it gave me 12.1/100k's so there is economy to be had, but agreed, put your foot down and everything else goes away

forgive me if this is a repeated thread - i did a quick search and couldnt find anything on it. im thinking about buying an xr6t BA in the next few months - however i was told the fuel economy averages 14-15lt / 100km and can even average up to 18lt / 100km. Is this right??? i know economy with a turbo varies with driving style but an average of 15lt / 100km seems a bit high. just wondering what economy you guys are averaging? are non turbo xr6's much better. cheers. you dont buy a turbo falcon for the fuel economy...if you want some tree hugging heap then go get a charade or something that gets 1000k's per thimble of petrol but if wanna be able to carry people and stuff in a decent sized car and still have some sting then get the XR6T

After the edit my highway kays are at about 10l/100k @ 100Km/h
About 11 at 110Km/h, and about 18l at 160Km/h lol. The edit helped, it used to do about 13-14/100 @ 100Kays. It uses about 14-15 round town, doesn't make much difference between flogging it and babying it (maybe get to 18L per 100Ks. About 270 odd rwkw; so in my case you can have your cake and eat it too. But really, they're still making fuel. lol. Buy a Prius if you want to save juice. Even they still cost $37K tho. |

Nick
Nizpro stage 1 (CAPA flash + custom tune + valve springs + injectors). On Wednesday i got them to install a PWR intercooler (about 3x bigger than stock one), and she's now got consistent power (bugger all heat soak) and an extra ~20KW from 2000rpm -> redline. Drives like a dream. |

That sounds good
i have been given the option of fitting a cheap APS stage 2 kit when mine arrives - considering it only because it gives better fuel economy Just trying to decide if i lash out on a bf or go the BA!

Most of the Turbo's we get in at work average between 12-15L/100km, so i would not really be complaining, besides my cousin came over today and he drives a VYII Maloo 285Kw 6-speeder and his computer said an average of 14.4L/100km. The most i have ever got in my ED XR6 auto to a tank is 440km to 68L's and the last tank i only got 337km to 65L so what ever that equals???? But i only have 1 gear and 3rd so no overdrive plus i drive my car hard 90% of the time. It likes to rev to the limiter.
Cheers Griffo

Not sure why it is so high, but people i know with BA turbos say it sits around the 12 or 13 mark for them, most of them dont drive it very hard either. The ute of mine is slowly coming down though. Believe me buy an xr6 turbo, forget about fuel and think about the enjoyment.
Just reset it next time you fill it up. Then it should give you a true value. |

my ute has 84 000 on the clock and highway cycle can get down to 11.2L/100 k's . different story around town though she climbs up to around 14.5 to 15. i guess it doesnt help economy at all when u tramp it off every set of lights haha. the idea is to drive it like it was built to be driven yeah?
