I just got and installed a Pioneer 5850, awesome unit, but I was wondering... It only turns on when I put the key in the ACC position, is this normal? is it only the ford ones that have keyless play?

only stock hu's have keyless play, when you install an aftermarket hu the turn on switch is operated by the acc 12v on the ignition side of your electrics so you cant turn it on without the key. hope this helps! Greg

The only you can get Keyless play is if you were to run power directly from the battery or off a circiut that is permanantly powered (like the Stereo memory wire or the clock power wire). I would not recommend this, as the stereo will play continuously until the battery dies. I had done it in my old Pulsar.
Unfortunately, as previously mentioned, only the stock headunits have the keyless play feature.
