yeah well it has been decided that i am going to rewire the rear speakers (to give me a head start for futher upgrades, and also because the stock wiring has the wrong pins for my 6x9's)
But my question is where the hell do the speaker wires run from the rear speakers on the parcel shelf.
btw if you didnt know its a 1994 ED GLi.

i would say they run under the plastic scrap panels along the floor at the bottom of the door and then up the side of the seat and in my ef the was a square hole going into the boot that they ran through

i put new wires in wen i put new spekas in and it was pretty easy to do just pull back the side of the seat cushion take it of if u want but u dont have to and thread thru thats if there the same but i would say they are similar

Yep all you need to do is remove the following to get to the wires and replace them.

Rear seat backing, can just unclip it i think, bottom section of the rear seats which you will need to push forward then pull up on the cushion to get it off, wires are usually along RH side.

Then remove the scuff plates and center plastic thingy (seat belt pillar), and then remove the scuff plates at the front and then the rh side kick panel and then from there it should run thru to the HU.

But yeah thats basically where the wire runs from :P

Good luck, hope i made sense.

thats where i think they run, because i have taken the scuff plates (where the door closes), and all there is is the carpet stuff. (where it ends).
but i will have a closer look.
and if i couldnt find it, then i would just run the cables down the side of the car along the bottom.

the speaker wires for the rears run along the side of the car. The wires run from the boot to the HU from underneath the carpet on the drivers side.

how far under the carpet are we talking, an inch two inches, because i wouldnt mind checking it out to make sure its still good. We had a prob in my sisters car with dodgy wiring, but its a ford so it should be all good.

why does it matter where the factory wiring runs?
unless you want to remove the original wiring, just run the new stuff wherever u want

u'll find that the factory speaker wiring is part of the body loom so removing it will be somewhat involved.

its all good, i have decided where the wiring is going, and the new speakers are in and working (using the stock wiring), i have to secure the spacers now, i was gonna use some sort of glue, good or bad idea, any other methods of securing it???
because atm they are just sitting there, but not moving around (which is good)

yeah, that will work, considering that i have to go through carpet, glue, and metal, and the drill dont really reach to the back of the parcel shelf (due to the windscreen), but the glue is strong on the carpet, but i will glue the,m to the carpet, meh, i'll have the car for a while.

when i ran new wire from the amp to the speakers in the back. not far but i just stuck it down it gaffa (spelling) tape. still there six months on. when i ran it to the front i just stuck under the carpet. its not gonna move. you will find when you pull the carpet up there is like a step in the floor just past the kick panel. the wire just sits in there. or if you want you can pull the door seal off and push it into the tiny gap between the frame of the car and the plastic interior and run it along the roof. thats what i did for the front to keep it away from the 4 gauge cable.
