Do you actually do the conversion work there ?
And if so have you put any BA motors into EA-AU's ? It'd be a big project I imagine - transferring across all the BA gear to get everything running. I wouldn't mind a BA XR dash in my EF

Just out of interest, thinking about a project gettin off the ground sometime next year, what sort of cost would I be lookin at for a low kays BA motor (complete, inlet, ps, alt etc), del incl, to cairns? Ive got a few ideas atm, mainly using an AU motor, but if the cost isnt too much, id seriously consider a BA. Id be running an aftermarket ecu, so wiring aint a prob......
Also, any idea if any of the e series gearoxes will fit a BA? Be it either manual or auto, or would I need a BA box. If so, any idea if they fit the e series floorpan, and if so, price also. One more question, engine mounts. Can earlier e series be used, ef/el, or are custom ones needed. Cheers Tim

i've also had a look at doing this engine change but i was shot down pretty quick after i was told that the motor + box and ecu (thats what i was told i needed)was going to cost 4grand that i could handle, it was that the install and the after market computer (i don't know why i needed the ecu) was going to cost $8500 , but i'm guessing that's what you get with nizzpro.

I believe some of the issues relate to the BA , but dont take this as correct but:
Fly by wire causes isses BA motor needs matching ecu, bcm and key Motor will hang out the top of the bonnet (but, will look tough:)) Variable cam timming If using an aftermarket ecu (which I will Be), some of these can be overcome. However, Im also going to bel looking into the option of having custom cams ground (minus the variable feature), and using a custom plenum with an el style throttle body to overcome the ecu issues. That way, in theory, an el ecu 'should' be able to run the BA twin cam........

mm nice idea low na
my idea of thinking is using a AU VCT ecu with the vct part spliced into 2!

wheres the boobies frank????
the BA motor will bolt up to a E series box and will have a couple of minor mods required to fit (same as AU motor). the BA motor does sit a bit taller but with a few mods i rekon you could lower the engine enough to clear the bonnet (or put a scoop on it ebgt ect.) I would Fit a EL throttle body and use an aftermarket computer. you dont need to hook up the variable timing to get the engine running and i have heard of some good power from these things without it hooked up. we sold a BA turbo motor that is now fitted into a EL XR6 with an aftermarket computer and a 5 speed. |

Any change a ba could be made to run of an EF ECU? They are both coilpack yeah? Ill probably end up runnin aftermarket ecu though, just for a bit more flexibility with tuning etc. Also, could an aftermarket ecu run the BA shifter? As in fit a BA box and motor, and be able to use the selective shift contril?

i couldnt see the point of using a EF p.c.m would be best to use a BA one and use all the loom and security i think it wont be long untill you will be able to buy a loom and computer and the ba motors will be plug and play. |
