Alright guys, i know everyone who has tried to fit an aftermarket alarm with Remote Start has had this problem, and im after a solution. As we know, Smartlock isnt so great, it has to sence a key in the ignition before it will allow the car to start (Unless we can trick it)
Im aware there is a wire on the Smartlock Module that you can ground out (or something like that) to make the car think there is always a key in the ignition, hence, Remote start will work. Anyone done this? or is there an easier way to get this to work?
Cheers, Dave

Could be a tricky one to get around.

Smartlock is essentially a 2 point immobilser.

The start circuit runs through the module and the module is what gives the code to the ecu to fire injectors.

The module gets the code from the ignition barrel when the key is turned.

I did a smartlock conversion on my pre smartlock ebII so I have an intimate knowledge of the system but I will have to have a look at the wiring diagram again.

Another way you could get around it is fit a pre smartlock ecu and bypass the start circuit which would be easier. You would still have keyless entry but would lose the smartlock features listed above.

well, further down the track im changing my ECU to an aftermarket, so theres not too much point in changing it now... i know there is another way, getting another ignition barrel, keeping a key in it, hiding that barrel, and running the wires parallel to your original ignition barrel, but thats a messy way. If you happen to come across the wiring solution, please let me know! Cheers

Dave
