Getting off the topic of shift lights a little - but I havent heard of anyone manual shifting an auto and getting better 1/4 times, but I have heard of people going slower. I think that when you manual shift it you tend to leave it in gear longer giving you the feeling of going faster when really your just holding past peak power for longer and end up going slower.

Agreed, the more you rev the engine the further away you get from the engines 'sweet spot'. its a thin line between getting enough engine speed to get you into the next gear and bogging down changing in peak torque (bout 3500-3750rpm for the six bangers from memory). Thats as close as i get to sounding scientific lol. *Gets back in box*. |
