Hey guys, does anyone now how to get air pockets out of an eb falcon?
I have changed the thermosat. when my temp gauge gets to a 1\4, the coolant rises and starts to overflow out of the bottle. I can't work it out and its giving me the s**t |

drain coolant, tighten everything, pressure test hoses, if nt leaking and all ok , fill back up but for god sakes man use the bleed valve on the thermostat, u fill with plug removed till coolant comes out then screw plug in and fill the rest of way, then run ur car with the heater on for bout 10 mins, let cool, and check level, fill if required. after this u shudnt have a prollem

loosen reservoir cap to recovery position, lock position but not tighten. go for a 10 minute drive.
check level when return. if low, top up. undo the reservoir cap. don't worry, its not pressurised yet until you tighten it up after all the air is purged from the system. use a wet towel to remove the cap just to be on the safe side.

If it keeps happening, might be a blown headgasket. Cylinder compression leaking into the coolant system. Had that issue when the HG in my EB Taxi was on its last. Started blowing hoses

umm unless he has a custom thermo houseing it don't have a bleed valve,,they have two hoses going to the resovoir tank,,if it keeps doing it take the cap off and sqeeze the top hose then the bottom hose,,water will piss out ,just top it up, but you should get ride of the air...

It does have a bleed valve, its a hex headed nut in the thermo housing.

The small top hose on the upper thermostat housing is a bleed hose! Its primary function is to allow any air to return to the header tank. I also don't recall a bleeder on the thermostat housing on my EA.

The HEX head you are talking about is used in a GHIA for the climate control coolant sensor, so it is not a bleed valve at all as stated the hose at the top of the thermostat housing is the bleed valve straight back into the overflow resivior.

Great for clearing that up, I didn't see which Hex head he was refering to. Now that you mention it, not much point bleeding air from below the water line

My recomendation is to replace the header surge tank with AU one. Only $60 brand new from ford and since the old one is now cracked and leaking it will need to be replaced anyway. What not leaking??? have a REALLY close examination.....You will find cracking.... Mine were both faulty. You can mount it higher on the strut tower. You also need the tank/rad hose to suit as it's longer. Since I did mine the bubbles have cleared and the level is holding really high. BTW mine is EF

When bleeding the system ensure the heater tap is open.
