Does anyone have some images of what they have done to cool the front brakes on an AU.
My Work Colleague is experienceing alot of brake fad when the weather is hot, he live in the country so alot of corners. etc. etc. Are there any photos of how people have rigged up brake cooling hose to the front bar. I was thinking cable ties to the suspension and around the top of the gaurd to the front bar but need to see some photos before i do that for him. |

All I did to may AU 1 fairmont wagon was knock the dust covers out of the alloys and seems to have done the job

I reckon he should start running a heavier duty brake pad - Bendix Heavy Duty or something like that then! Maybe fit slotted rotors on the front aswell. Does he have mag wheels with decent gaps between the spokes?

He has BA XR 17's
He has an issue with them getting too hot then not wanting to stop the Car. He is bugging me for my BA XR 18's but he aint gonna get them. He already has the Bendix Pads as well |

Which ones? Advanced? general ct's? ultimates? metal kings? heavy dutys? if he's running something like General CT's then there not the best pad and that's where his problem is! |

i would go for a set of new slotted rotors and bendix advance or ultimates
also chaneg the damn brake fluid old fluid can cause brake fade very quick and also tell your mate to slow f**k down or brake earlier as it sounds like he is speeding every were

My EF chaser has holes cut in plastic on the front of inner wheel arch to line up with the side ducts on the front bumper so that the oncoming air goes through duct in bumper and then through inner gaurd hole and onto brake area. Cheap and easy only cutting 2 holes in plastic.

Don't know what brake pads he has other than that they are bendix. he won't be at work till 12 so i will have to ask him then.
He says he doesn't drive fast but then again, he is from the country and their sort of fast isn't what we city boys would call fast, its what we call bloody stupid. |

replace the lines to braided lines as well ... this makes a difference in pedal firmness ... and fresh fluid would be good too.
Also may need to learn not to use the brakes too much ... or just slow down a little bit through the corners. But as others mentioned ... slotted rotors and better pads along with braided lines will make a big difference.

He could always convert to series 2 calipers (dual piston) and maybe booster which is bigger I am considering it for my AU
