I have had a look through heaps of posts and worked out how to get the self test codes from E - series falcons. But how do you do it - and is it possible - from the AU? I have an AU III that is starting really lumpy and I want to know if the computer has got anything to say about it. My Ellery manual has the codes, but it also mentions NGS testers, so I'm not sure whether a simple self-test is possible?

the computer will 99% surely tell u 2/10 of stuff all about your starting problems, what do u mean by starting lumpy? have u checked simple stuff like plugs and leads, and also fuel pressures etc?

It just seems to be a bit of a rough starter, takes a few seconds to come to a stable idle - like its rougher than my EFI XF. I haven't been that worried, but the other night it wouldn't start at all after a few tries. Had to wait a minute then it started. Obviously I should check the plugs etc first, but I once had a similar problem with the XF i just couldn't fix until I got a code telling me it was the EGO - which turned out to be full of oily crap.

So is the only way to get codes of an Au with a NGS tester?
