it looks like the EL will be going on gas, but Im not sure if it will be ok at 97,000k's because in another 4 or 5 years it will be clocking up the k's pretty high. It hasn't had a new head gasket yet so Im waiting for that one, but what other major probs can I expect over the next few years?

valve corrosion and valve seat corrosion........by the time that happens, your motor would clock another 300 000 k's and then you can get another head rebuilt with stainless valves and hardened seats.

The only difference with a properly made GAS motor and petrol motor is the valves and valve seats.....material wise! then theres a different ground cam, compression, etc...

what about the auto, how long do they last, it has a factory cooler if that means anything

mate its really hard to say, it depends greatly on the life the car has and will live. I've seen EF's go for 500,000km on the original head, gearbox etc, maybe one or 2 fuel pumps, but i've also seen another EF (sold new by work in the same week) go thru gearboxes and heads and all sorts of stuff in 300000km in the same time frame

i fitted my aftermarket gas system around 170,000kms when installing the gas sytem the guys found that i needed my head fixed thank god i didnt need to buy a new head, so the guys got the head fixed up and also fixed up for gas

it seems gas systems have doubled in price pretty much since i got mine done

it has a fairly easy life, we are the 2nd owners. The worst it gets is my wife trying to fry the brakes, you know on the throttle then JUMP on the brakes, on the gas a bit more then WHACK on they go again.

anyway, got a quote today for a OMVL positive pressure dual fual setup with a 68L tank. He says they start up a lot easier when cold than IMPCO, all up cost $2200 which I think is good these days.

Shop around. You should be able to get it done for about $1900 to $2000.

i doubt the price of aftermarket gas systems are 1900-2000 anymore, ive heard for a 4 cylinder car with impco a good system supply fitted for around 2500 and a also i was at a gas conversion place the other day a guy wanted to put his v8 crapadore on gas and it was going to be nearly 4000

Would there be any probs getting my vct put on gas??Or does it not affect anything. Would the head need work as i've done 170,000klms.

Standard throttle body kits are from the 2k mark up, injection is around 4k and gra performance throttlebody is around 3.5 :D

Got a quote today for an 86ltr tank with the impco throttle body which they say's heaps better.$ 2200 fully installed and 6 months interest free so in 2 weeks the lane will be all gassed up and ready to save me $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
