Not that it matters now, but any particular reason why you wanted a factory stacker? The EF/EL mid-series (and presumably the premo too) head units are built by Alpine and the stacker interface is Alpines M-BUS standard allowing you to connect any compatible Alpine stacker. I put a CHA-S634 in my EF Fairmont a while back which not only plays CDs but MP3s as well and it works like a charm.

Yeah, I needed an adaptor because the plug on the back of the Ford H/Us is different to Alpines 5 pin DIN standard. It cost 50 bucks, which is insane IMO, but given that I saved 40 odd bucks off the stacker I pretty much got it for free. All up it cost me $450: 350 for the stacker, 50 for the adaptor and 50 for installation.

As for where I mounted it, I had them put it under the front passenger seat. It's a wagon so I'm not exactly spoilt for choice in that department. Even if I owned a sedan though I'd probably put it there as well for the convenience factor alone however with MP3, I've only pulled the magazine out of it half a dozen times or so having it in the boot probably wouldn't have been that big a problem.
