Hi all,
My first post here. I have a question for all EF/EL people, does anyone have any documentation on the Tickford LPG installation. I have a complete setup I wish to install inplace of my current after market one. The problem I am facing is there are two connections I am stumped with. There are 2 FORD style connections (one male and one female) on the loom that look like they connect to the O2 sensor as there position in the loom places them around that location, am I correct in that assumption?
Also does anyone have an extract of the manual that covers the wiring of the complete Tickford LPG system?

Regards
Tony Wason.

Im not that good with LPG, but I can tell you that you need a licence to do LPG installs, that and I wouldn't play around with it. Just pay someone to do it, it wouldn't cost that much, and would feel alot safer...

my 2 cents anyway

Cheers

Thanks JustFordima, The car already is on Gas, I am changing the Control System to the Tickford system which integrates with the Petrol ECU .... The Tank and plumbing will not be effected.
Thanks again for your concern.
Regards
Tony Wason.

Sorry I couldn't help anymore, I thought you were changing a WHOLE system, including the mixer  .

Good luck

Can you supply photos of those connectors, and perhaps including their position in the loom. I might be able to refer to my workshop manual for you.

how much did the gas conversion cost you...or does neone know what one is worth...thinking about doing it with petrol the way it is...i do prolly $80 of driving per week which is about 800km...n its expensive to keep up. Im driving n working but still id like to lower the costs.

went to gas about 6 months ago best decision, got mine from the wreckers (just falcons) for $400 a impco system and installed what i could and had it finished off by a licence mechanic, all up it cost $950 and had to replace the inlet gasket in that price too.
with petrol prices as they are reckon i must of paid off by now lol

Figured it out, the connectors are indeed the O2 sensor, one goes to the sensor the other goes into the original loom for the petrol ECU. I would still appreciate a copy of the wiring for the tickford LPG system if any one has one.

ndroo,
The conversion was done a week after we got the car 7 years ago at $1600, we have done around 120 000 k's since then saving around 30% over the equivalent cost per klm on petrol. You could equate that into dollars if you like but simply reduce your petrol cost by 30% and work out the payback rate for your car. $10 / 100ks seems good to start with!Although the cost of gas is half that of petrol you do use much more and there is a small but noticible performace loss if you are not altering the engine to favour running on gas.

Regards
Tony Wason.

twason - if u notice a HUGE difference between gas and petrol, i.e. on petrol u get 480-550 and gas u get around 300-350 then i would be taking it to a LPG mechanic and get him to tune it up correctly.

I have got the standard impco system in mine and i get around 600kms (city travelling in melbourne) to a tank of LPG which is around 70-75 litres. oh and also there is a 1rwkw difference between LPG and petrol on mine in the favour of LPG

so me thinks it might need a retune that is all. Also, last bit, i dont really think it wise using a tickford control system on a impco gas setup. Why are u changing the control system? poor performance? poor economy?
