Hi all, I have a AU 1 fairmont wagon and the power steering has started to get heavy the other day. I have checked the fluids and they were fine. Now the power steering is all but stopped, you can hardly turn the wheel with the car stopped. To fix this is it can I just change the power steering pump or is it more involved. Any help will be greatly appreciated

check the belt. it might be lose on the steering pump therefore not pumping the fluid at all....if its all nice and tight im guessing u might need to replace the pump. i dont think it will be that hard to fix :S

Checked the belt and it seems to be tight. I will investigate the rack
