There's a topic on here called "ovo's extreme makeover". Check it out.

Just checked it out...it mentions nothing about installing a 5.0?

Did you read it all? I know the start is all about the body, but I'm sure he starts detailing the dramas he had changing to the 5 litre once the respray was underway... If I'm remembering wrong just PM OVO 616 (? not sure about the number?) and ask him for advice!

Would you be able to put up some pics of the V8 project that you did in your car.. From what i can see you have done a really good job so far.. keep up the good work.. The other thing is i have been searching online for a good place that stocks EFI windsors, trans , loom , computer etc.. in Melbourne. Could anyone suggest a good place? I rang up FerntreeGully Auto Salvage and they don't have any in stock at the moment...

Probably your best bet would be to find a wrecked V8 EL. Then you'd get everything you need in one go. You'd change out the whole harness for the V8 one which has the 104pin EECV plus if you are going auto with the V8 you'll pickup the Trans controller and associated wiring that is not integrated into the EEC like the 4.0L is. This way you may also pickup the full instrument dash.
If you didn't get a donor car this is an alternative...
As your EL 4.0 has the 60pin EECIV connector on it's EECV you have another possibility; You could use an earlier EECIV from an EB-ED 5.0L or '89-'93 5.0L Mustang and add some wires to your existing 4.0L harness to make it work on the V8. Most of the pinout is the same between 4.0L and 5.0L EECIV and EL 4.0L EECV. You need to add 6 injector wires and 4 for the MAF. Other minor differences can accomodated by moving the pins to the required positions in the connector. The only problem with this is that some of your instruments won't work because they obtained serial data from the original EECV to operate.
If you found an AU donor car this is also doable but you would need the entire harness again and the ignition lock and key and BEM to allow smartshield to operate. The serial data from the AU EECV will operate the EL dash and the auto is now controlled by the EEC on the 5.0L. I've done this conversion on an XH ute BTW.

Cheers,
Pete.

Just buy an NF as they are cheap as chips and swap everything over from your beast and vice versa.
