g'day all. I have an EF with Tickford LPG.

The problem I have is that when I am coming to a stop, it wants to stall. Almost every time, but especially from 60kph+.

I have:

* retightened the inlet manifold

* recalibrated the gearbox PCM.

* Checked the idle cuicuit in the Vialle converter. Seems O.K.

* reset the base idle

* replaced plugs and leads.

Yet it keeps wanting to stall when I come to a stop. If I give it a kick (heel and toe) it is fine.

Any help would be good.

If it stalls when ever idle is needed.Like when your stopped or most concerning going around a corner etc.,This would mean you idle circuit for the LPG is blocked with that black waxy crap.Same thing happens to sons car from time to time.I remove the idle solenoid and remove the crap and use a thin piece of wire to clear the idle tube.

thanks station_rat and eagleaus. I have cleaned the idle circuit/jet, but I have noticed that the air tube to the converter has some tape wrapped around it, so maybeit has a split. I will check that tody too

When it idles, e.g. on startup, it is fine. it will idle all day. It is only when I am coming to a stop, or slowing down for,say, a corner or to traffic lights, that it wants to stall. Give it a small rev, and it's fine until the next set of lights.

So, 2 things to look at: MAP sensor tube, and tube to air filter.

.

Sounds to me like the diaphrams in the convertor are sticking or are stretched with old age which require an overhaul. If economy and performance are still OK you can adjust the base idle up a bit to see if it helps.

I'm having the same problem with my tickford gas. It runs on petrol, which rules out a vacuum leaks. I have tried cleaning idle jet, adjusting the base idle, swiped all gas components accept for the converter (But I have replaced the stepper motor, lock off valve and fitter and blowen out the converter). When the gas is playing up I have found the car idles lower, runs rougher, A/F is very lean, lower vacuum and there is a flat spot in the beginning of the accelerater. Also to stop it from stalling I’m driving the auto like a manual. I’m now starting to think that the idle jet and solenoid are U/S and need to be replaced.

It most probably is the idle control unit that sits ontop of the throttle.

It was always this item when I had the same problem in the taxis.

ppl might be interested to know that I've fixed the problem. It was a split in the hose from the air filter box to the converter. Taped it up. NO PROBLEM :D :D

At last it's fixed. It's been bugging me for months!!!!

All I have to do is now go to an LPG place and get another bit of hose

THANKS STATION-RAT :D :D

holes in the early ticky system hose are common
they solved this by going to an aluminium hose. i think they did this from au on.
