Most T04's make atleast 200 rwkw...
Many .. many sizes of t04's though..
It's not a TD04 is it???
Thay're much smaller...

sounds like it is for a small capacity engine. i was running a T04 on a 3L engine that had a turbine rating of 1.0.

Best bet is to call "Air Research" or "GCG Turbo's"

The turbo itself is sized ok, the turbine housing however is too small for anything bigger than a 2 litre, it would probably be rated at around 380-400hp on a well setup small 4 like an SR20 or CA18, far too small for 4 lite though, would be such a back pressure restriction detonation would me certain. The turbine wheel looks like what they call a Stage 5 wheel, similar to a sierra wheel, and the comp wheel is a V2 or H trim TO4.

Cheers......................6BOOST

Poo!

It's possible to change it over yeah?

If the a/r of .48 is a tad small what would be a better fit? on the GCG site they have turbine housings for XTRT3-T31-T34 which im guessing is the same exhaust as a t04..

they go upto .82 a/r with an internal wastegate and upto 1.06 a/r with an external (another $700+ there..)

what size would be optimum?

.82 - 1.26A/R is good and most popular is 1.06

*thread mining!*

Just spoke to GCG about my turbo.. the t04...

Told the guy the measurements of the wheels and he's deduced its rated for maybe 250hp.. and possibly off a saab 900 turbo.. so teeny engine.. and would probably make boost at idle on a 4l falcon engine...

Also asked him if i could change bits on it to make it okay for the 4L and he said not really.

So that puts that idea in the s**t! Guess i'll be offloading it then...

can you chuck on and external gate? It will boost down low but at least you wont be spinning it too hard at high revs, wont be boosting up high but you would have a big punch down low

it would have huge restriction on the exhast gases and would make alot of heat, and wouldent alow the engine to rev. 4l is a large engine it needs to breath.

isnt that eaxtly what the f1 turbo cars ran?? although they had obviously huge compressors capable of like 1200hp, but tiny by comparison turbines, for fast spool, and massive wastegates to keep backpressure low
