Not too sure on expected output but I would say that it might be worth anywhere from 200rwkw to 230rwkw to you, although definately depends on the rest of your setup though.
I would have thought you'd be able to go a bigger cam with a 347, something with a bit more lift... what heads etc are you running? |

i'm running gt40p heads ported to 466hp with a power plus manifold match ported,i have 30lb xr6 turbo injectors bosch fuel pump 450hp+,65mm tb with a 70mm maf,i have the cam from the previous rebuild but my mechanic think its abit small so once he runs his computer programme on mods he can pick the appropiate one and give expected hp,looks like i'll have a 2031 low km cam forsale + a standard balanced crank, rods and a good set of acl flattops.don't think anyone will want e7 heads though.
regards rick

Do you have some real airflow numbers for your GT40P heads i.e. cfm @ 28" water in 100 thou increments?
I think 2030/2031 cams are fairly well matched to ported GT40P's and street compression i.e. 9.0-10.0:1 with standard converters (auto or manual?). Obviously though, a custom cam would work best. I agree with offyaguts...a very well setup combo should hit around 230rwkw. I think the heads and intake will stop it from making anymore power than that. While an ordinary combination and/or poor tuning might make around the 200rwkw. What sort of car is it going into? Will it see any quarter mile action? What diff gear ratio? And what stall converter (if auto)? |

i will have airflow by the end of the week, mechanic has just finished building heads and he said thats the next step before he picks a cam,the cars an ebxr8 auto, standard open wheeler diff, thats the next thing i'll be looking at upgrading when i get some more cash, the converter is standard aswell but i've talked to adelaide torque converters and they recon these r about 2200-2500 stall from standard if i have a prob its a simple adjustment of the fins.my mechanic said he'll look into it before the motor goes back in.

Sounds good, should be a rocket in an EB. I think the std converter is more like 2000rpm, it is in my AU XR8 anyway.
What compression are you aiming for? The XR6T injectors only flow 24lbs/hr with the standard fuel pressure regulator (the XR6T reg was higher pressure than standard to get the extra flow). I think you will need to get bigger injectors or run an adjustable fuel pressure regulator to support the power you are after. |

i not sure on compression,i'm no mechanic,i do know it will be too high to run a blower that we have discussed,he has mentioned about getting an adjustable regulator to suit,he recon's we're looking around 420-450hp,i'll know more once he run's his programme on my mods,he said he's never been more than 10hp out.

Another choice is the crane cam part no 449601,int lift at valve .542,exh .563.Duration at 50 thou 224 int,232 exh.I'm using it with 302 bottom end and GT40p's flowwed to 400hp at .550 lift.Would be a great cam for the 347 stroker.Compression ratio of 9.5-10 for n/a and back to 8 for blown. You'll need a 2800rpm stall with this cam.My new stall turned up today,be in the car tomorrow.Stall is custom made by Autoflite engineering who make the dominator stalls.

sounds good, is that cam suited to 1.7 roller rockers and also how much was the converter

Not suited to 1:7 roller rockers.Only because to achieve 9.5 compression I used pistons with a zero piston to block deck height and shaved the heads 30 thou. This will have to be calculated by your rebuilder because of the extra chamber volume of a 347 stroker, you should get 9.5-10 without shaving your heads.I used 1:6 Yella Terra platinum series adjustable. The stall cost me $950 Recommended retail $1150.I found out from talking to the supplier that if you buy a 2800rpm stall of the shelf it doesnt gaurantee that it will lock up at 2800.My stall has been built to suit the car and engine specs and using the dyno graph.
