Get an EL GT or an AU XR8 one which needs heating with a heat gun to make clearance for the power steering pulley.

Have seen this done on a few eseries V8s now.

Also, the panel filters have a bigger surface area, so im guessing that helps out also.

For BMC Filters, go here: http://www.autospeed.com/shop/category_1002/browse.html

BMC Filters do flow better than K&N however that is because they have one less filtering layer..

Is there anything stopping me from making my own air intake system, like add some cool air ducting from under the car and join it to the airbox? is there a risk of sending to much air into the system?

You can never get too much air into the airbox. The new "shaker" ram airs they are making for the modular mustang (and now the BA) prove that. If you want to work out what sort of restriction the snorkel is to the intake - put your hand over the snorkel intake and give the car a rev. After you s**t yourself - you will "imagineer" other ways to reduce the restriction. Cars without ABS have had 3" holes drilled through the inner guard and 3" PVC pipe glued in to help out - but there are other ways to do it.

Yeah I would lean towards BMC filters as I have found that the K & N filters after say installing one then driving 10,000km with it and then giving it a clean with the "Recharge Kit" It still dont look as clean as when you first took it out of the pack no matter what. I had one for 18 months then I had to replace it despite their s**t "1 million mile" guarentee as it was very sooty looking even after cleaning it.
