At 5700 or is it 5000 in an EA it seems a bit conservative dont you think?

Anyway not after much more, just wanna let it wind out fully coz my engines got more to give.

thanks for your concern anyway soulfire

What cam have you got?
Have you actually had it on a dyno, or do you just really want to throw a rod through your block?

Honestly, if you rev it out harder, even if its got more give, its got no grasp and youl'l cause damage. Thats why they made the BA engine stronger to increase the rev limit but in an EA...

I thought the answer was pretty damn good, I CAN do it. It requires a chip on the ECU, if you can make you're own chips you too can do it. Or I can.

I happen to have a bin from a EA with MPFI so may be able to find the rev limiter in there. Having said that, there is the risk of an engine that old being somewhat unhappy at those speeds.

The engine my friend has been re built and has done about 8000kms
so age shouldnt be a problem

Have you raised the limitor on anutha falcon? howd it go? any probs?

I dont wanna completely get rid of the limiter just raise it to like 6000 or 6250rpm can that be done?
It would be awesome if you could look in2 it for me Thanks

Theres not much point in going over 6000, if your torque/power come in around 3500, no benefit i can see.

As bowsaw mentioned, check your power curve - dyno printout, if it's still making power up high, then sure extending the rev limiter may offer a benefit, otherwise there's nothing in it.

Yeah very much so the cam. eg. with my stock cam I got this graph:

Image
From the 2005 Sydney Dyno Day.
Note how it flattens off around 105KM/H and declines. No benefit raising RPM if your power curve looks like this, as the engine is starved for air.

Image

Now the power keeps climbing all the way to the limiter - in this case the speed limiter @180KM/H. Even in second (I don't have a printout of that one) where my rev limiter's set higher it makes power until 6150rpm. If you're chart looks like this then a higher rev limiter will give benefit, although if you have an auto, you won't benefit from it on the road unless you shift manually.

As I've found out limiters are there for good reason, but if you want one I can do it (for EL ECUs at the moment, more as I get them).
