I have a perfectly healty 3.9 Auto that will refuse to rev past 4000 rpm when in D. It will only go past that if i hold it in 1 or somthing. To cut a long story short i had my dad hold his foot flat to the floor (with engine off :P ) so i could check if it was getting full throttle. When he did this, I noted that the throttle was only 3/4 of the way open. Is this a common problem or are they all like that? What is required to fix it? a new cable?

car has the "log" style manifold

it's pretty common for the outer of the cable to break up, they dont cost much and are easy to replace

I replaced mine and there about $55. You will notice wide open throttle again plus heaps better throttle response when driving around town..
