I have a perfectly healty 3.9 Auto that will refuse to rev past 4000 rpm when in D. It will only go past that if i hold it in 1 or somthing. To cut a long story short i had my dad hold his foot flat to the floor (with engine off ) so i could check if it was getting full throttle. When he did this, I noted that the throttle was only 3/4 of the way open. Is this a common problem or are they all like that? What is required to fix it? a new cable?
car has the "log" style manifold

it's pretty common for the outer of the cable to break up, they dont cost much and are easy to replace

I replaced mine and there about $55. You will notice wide open throttle again plus heaps better throttle response when driving around town..

the throttle plate thingy was removed from my car and "bastardised" to make it reach full throttle. worked a charm
