just wondering if any of you guy had a prob with this? im driving an efII fairmont

high oil pressure would indicate that you have to much oil in the motor..
when you pulled over did u read the oil correctly? Ie. wiping the stick and then checking it again? when the motor is hot you will get innacurate readings so you need to wipe it then check it. what is the oil pressure when ur at idle? |

Yeah I've had this a few times - EF XR6. Mine usually returns to normal after a while (or if I switch off and then restart) I can only assume it's a sender unit problem - I'll have to change it one day to find out! Cheers Paul B XR6WGN

probably a sender unit then..
maybe the contacts are a bit loose or something? |

hmm could be a faulty sender, electrics can often go a bit wako when they are hot.

if the oil level is too high it wont cause excess pressure
if it went back to normal, i'd say its a sender fault if it stays high, i'd say one or more of the oil galleries or ports is blocked

only thing you can do is hook up a manual gauge
when i strart mine it sits in the red for a while and mooves down dunno why though. causes are bad relief valve blocked galleries, bad gauge earths damaged sender or gauge

erm. from what ive seen fillign the engine up with to much oil will give you a higher oil pressure then normal???

I experienced the same until I fitted a new sender, cheap too at only about $50.
