Just wondering where the knock sensor is located on a EF/EL and can one be fitted to my NC Fairlane? I am trying to fit a ECC V to my NC.

Hey mate,

Its tapped into the block on the passengers side, around cyl 5/6, an inch or 2 below the deck.

I guess you could tap a thread into the side of the block. Not quite sure.

You can grab Ef/EL blocks pretty cheap.

Serious? Maybe they started making provisions for it in the late ED blocks. I know that none of the EB blocks have them - none which i've owned anyhow.

doubt they would be different as they do the same job if they are different it may be more sensitive? and react faster

the knock sensor detects engine knock :)
basically pinging or pre- detenation of the air fule charge and retards teh time to increase power and stop damgage to the enigine

the term knock is used basically as the sound made is like a knocking sound :)

Perhaps it's like those "hybrid" ELs that had both EL and AU parts in them: They started putting EF blocks into the last of the EDs in order to get the production line up to speed in time for EF?
