Is it possible just to turn a engine over by hand a few times? My 5.0L hasn’t been started for 4 months due to some dash-out interior mods (amongst other things) And I don't want it to seize on me. So yeah can it be done?

(battery is disconnected) and since its been sitting for so long, would turning it over harm the engine becuase (probably) the oil has drained from the top end back into the sump? how much force is required to turn it over? is 4 months unstarted a long time? (Motor was in prefect health)

if you dont pull the plugs out, and you still have compression, it'll be hard to turn by hand.

LOL i'd disconnect coil lead/coil pack (Whichever you have) and spin it over by the key.
4 Months isn't a long time, i've had engines sit around for YEARS and started them without any problems. |
