well, i did diagnostics on my EA's ECU today. It told me to have a look at the tps and MAP sensors. I measured the ECU voltage for the TPS and Got 1.18V (should be 1 volt) and 3.7V on full throttle (should be 4.5 volt). I think this may be the answer to my car jerking from lack of power. Is the tps servicable at home or would it be best just to buy a new unit from Ford?

I'd check the new price from ford, if its only $20-30, go for it. Else, head down to your local wrecker, armed with a multimeter and find one which works properly. Shouldnt cost you any more than $10

sweet, that much cheaper than expected, however I have a problem. Because I got incorrect voltage readings, I followed gregories and measured the resistance across 2 of the terminals on the tps adapter and like it is supposed to, the resistance decreased as the throttle was increased. Gregories explanation is that the wiring harness should be checked. I did check it and it seems ok, so my query is: surely even though the resistance is decreasing like its supposed to, isn't it still possible I have a faulty tps as gregories make it seem it would only be faulty if resistance wouldn't decrease. I hope I haven't worded this too much like a retard.

Seems to me like yours is fine... but one more check, take it off, and then check closed, and full throttle, as it seems to be like your accelerator cable just stretched.

Also, the EEC can adjust for that, if you find how to calibrate your TPS (can't remember of the top of my head), it'll take into account the new minimal and maximum settings.

Cheers
