Has anyone ever looked at the signal b/w the ICC and its screen in the BA premium audio?

What i was wondering is if you could use a 7" LCD, and mould it in place of the current LCD, and relocate the buttons for room. Then run it off the factory ICC, effectively having a larger display for the audio/aircon controls

With the added side effect of a touch screen panel for use with a Car PC and either a switch to switch signals manually or put the car PC through the Sat nav input to keep the display overlay

Anyone recon this could work?

its doable... theres a company that does all sorts of upgrades for the BA/BF stereos. They have an interceptor box that plugs into the factory loom. I forget the name of the company, but jump on www.fordxr6turbo.com and do a search on upgrading the stereo and you should be able to find it pretty easily.

Yeah they just do the premium upgrade, though i have sent and email to quiz them

I think the best way is to look at the interface that drives the LCD, and use some sort of USB input output module to read that data into the PC and have the PC do the overlay with some custom software. i could also run the volume knob through an A/D converter, and the volume/chanel buttons into said USB module and write software for that too.

Looks like i maybe have some interesting times ahead :D

btw: i couldnt find some kind of intercepter interface either, i may be able to work something else my self.

This kit has a box that plugs into the loom (which is what I meant by an interceptor), but on second thoughts its probably not what you are after.
