Ok. As you may know i own a EF so i know f**k all about the AU's.
My friend has an AU II and he wants a new key. I hear things about you having to program the newly cut keys in. So my question be do you have to program the keys in? If so how? Now the remotes im pretty sure its the same as the EF's but i do have the owners manual and it should be in there.

Key is different in AU.
AU have smartshiled and a small transponder in the head of the key, so has to be programmed. EB-EL have smartlock which uses a key with no transponder in it.

Ok. How do you programe transponder in the AU/BA keys?

if you only have one key you will have to have it done by a Ford workshop or a couple of locksmiths who have invested in technology can do them.
As for the remotes they are different yes. But programmed the same way.

put it in the ignition and leave it in the ON position for about 20mins or so.
They can be coded straight up when cut by a locksmith, or do what I said.

had an idea the keys were like the EF/EL BEM. So he has one key. Get a key cut and leave it in the on position for 20 mins and its programed?

A story I heard:
A woman gave her keys to her baby to play with. The baby played with the keys for a while. The woman then left and got into her car and tried to turn on the car with the keys. She then contacted NRMA and they attempted to figure out the problem. NRMA man said I dunno what is wrong with your car. He then asked to check the fuse box so he turned the key himself. When he turned the key he noticed the microchip was missing from the key. He asked the woman if she has used the key before and she replied yes. He asked when she last turned the key. She responded before I arrived. He searched the floor, no chip to be found. He asked her where else the keys had been. She responded in my bag. He asked her to search the bag for an iem of the description of the chip. She said nowhere to be found after searching the bag. HE asked was there anywhere else where the keys had been? She responded no. The NRMA guy noticed she had her baby. He asked if she gave the keys to her baby and she responded what has that got to do with it? He said m'am could you please put your baby next to the key slot. She moved the baby there and the NRMA guy turned the key and the car started. He said your baby has swallowed the chip. Please monitor any of your babys poo in the next 48 hours. The woman's problem was solved. This is why children should be given fake plastic keys which are designed for babies. |

Now the remotes im pretty sure its the same as the EF's but i do have the owners manual and it should be in there. hey mate im a locksmith and the key itselve has a computer chip (called a t7 chip) and it talked to the computer in your car and allows it to start the car.. it needs to be programed to suit the car.. takes around 15 mins to complet the hole job as ford has a 10 min time delay before allowing the program to finish pm me if you need more help mate |

you cant program it unless you have a stupid machine to do so.. locksmiths or even ford.. depends where do you live mate?? might be able to help you out with a good locksmith near by

i under stand now. You need the original key and the new key the you are able to program the right code into the new key using the code from the old key so that it will work on the smart shield.

mate that isnt right.. the key already has a code on it.. and when u program the keys to the car the car remembers those codes and all the rest of the keys are deleted

ok so its like adding a new remote to the EF/EL. Sorry about all the confusion.
