This is a very interesting read, If you could use the Electric Window switches from a BA and cut a hole out in the driver and passenger side arm rests to fit them then you could run the wiring to those switches instead of the center console wiring. i have looked at the AU electronics and would assume for would not have changed the circuit diagram that much between the models for the electric windows would they??

Window goes up, window goes down, just hook the right wires up and away she goes.

As you can pull the smaller panel in the door trim where your arm rests to retrim it on the EA-ED fairmont ghias, i would think it would be possible to do this.

I fitted EF/L power window switches/cup holders to my XH centre console.
Have a read of http://www.fordmods.com/forums/viewtopi ... ip&start=0 .
I did write a doco for the cup holders - it's in the X series section.

All of it wasn't too hard to do, was also pretty cheap for the parts as well.
The EA-ED consoles are nearly the same as the XH units (they aren't identical), so you should be able to do same.

I've been told an AU console would fit my ute, but I liked my modded setup more.

Anyways, might give someone some ideas.

the AU one would definatly fit no problems. The main reason for this is that the AU console reaches right under the dash similar to EA-ED. The EF/EL console is shaped to make it look like its a part of the dash. (which its not)

As i said before, with the AU console, you will have to relocate your cruise control ECU and your power window switchs.

The EA Cruise ECU is directly above the accelerator pedal not in the centre console. I believe it wasn't until ED that it was moved into the centre console

sounds good. let us know how you go with it! the gearboxes are actually different models but they are basically the same in many ways.

Your quite right, Ford moved it into the centre console in later models, but Froudey has a EA. The question is an AU console into a EA, therefore he doesn't need to worry about the CC ECU

juat spoke to w "wrecker" and they said it can't be down cause the AU has a metal plate underneath the console?? but like why would that be? cause the previous console in many different cars i have drve and owned and that they are just fasterend by like four or less screws etc. i going to like measure my GF mothers XR6 AU and get the dimensions and compared them with the EA/B/D console like if they have similiar dimesions should be relativatly simple

i can't think of a logical explanation of why there is a metal plate under the console.... I'd just buy 1 any way and get it to fit

yeh npz sounds very easy. did u stop to think about all the electrics, not to mention the gauges and climate control?

will ur steering wheel even fit around the dash?

just buy a au from the actions for 7k

Mate, 5 posts up you were calling him a newbie and being a very big a**hole, yet you have just shown you have no idea what your craping on about and are talking s**t. NO AU FALCONS HAVE CLIMATE CONTROL, GAUGES OR STEERING WEHELS IN THE CENTER CONSOLE - there in the dash! center console is the bit between the front seats - only electrics would be for the autotranny (lights to show what gear and power/economy switch) and power windows - if these are applicable in this case...

lol dude... i was joking hahaha
