Hi
I have lots of E series parts laying around and have realised that I wont have my AU motor ready before I start my next job. I need to get the car on the road. The engine in the car is the stock EA 3.9CFI but now with MPFI. I have an EF engine that needs a bore and has a scuffed piston in #6. I figured I could throw the EF crank in the EA motor while its apart and achieve a better balance and smoother engine. The EA engine is running fine and will only need a gasket kit to fix the million leaks it has. If I tear it down and its tired I'll just do the EF bottom end. But if not, are there any problems using the EF crank in the EA block? I've checked the bearings and they are the same for main and bigend for both EA nd EF. I'll use new ones of course. The harmonic balancer from the EA will go straight on too. I presume the EA flexplate will bolt up also. I am going to use the EA conrods but that shouldn't worry the balance being an inline 6. Anyone see and potential problems? Chris |

I checked on the ACL website and they list the EF as having a stroke of 3.79" which make no sense as the engine displacement doesn't work out. Surely the stroke is 3.91" like all the rest?

EF has same stroke as all others - 99mm or 3.9"
Cranks should be no problem

Might shoot it down to repco for a linish and get some bearings. I should have half the parts before the engine even get pulled down. Thanks for that. Chris |
