hey everyone

this is my first ford, and im not to familiar with the engines. when crusing
along and i flatten it it kicks back a few gears starts to accelerate
coughs and splutters for a second then takes off again, i know this could
be a zillion things. any thoughts! feels like its running out of fuel maybe or losing spark. Every now and then when at idle it feels like it knocks or something. weird! anyway any help would be appreciated

i would give the car a service /plugs /leads/air/oil/petrolfilters/oil change.first and see how it goes.if still playing up put a new coil on it .abd get the injectors seviced

had same problem in my EL.
change plugs and leads, should come all good.

my EL fairmont did that. i changed the fuel filter and it ran much smoother but drinks more petrol due to other reasons. Spark plugs, injectors cleaned, oil change and oil filter is also a good start to see how it goes. and u wont be wasting money for trying it out since ur changing it all at the one time. when it hesitates usually not enough fuel coming in or not enough sparks. so change the fuel filter and change the sparks first. see how that goes
