Sounds a bit weird...

Has anyone ever noticed that the less petrol you have, the more economical the car is???

For example if I let the XR run down to a tick over empty, cosption seems to slow considerably. When I fill it up to half a tank (who the hell can afford to FILL the tank??? :lol: ) it seems to suck juice like a b**ch!

ur car is more economical when there is less petrol because the car is lighter and less fuel to drag around. I can feel the car is much lighter on the back end when the tank is on empty but once i put a full tank she is has a fatter a**.

I thought the response time of the fuel sensor is just slow and so slowly changes as u drive?

everytime my light is flashing, to fill her up would take me about 50 - 60 litres. but if i have about 50km left on the trip its 65litres. before i poor petrol in i calculated how much i should be putting in for a full tank before i get to the servo and it always seems to be correct using the figures from the trip computer.

phong =P~

If you reckon you are getting ripped off by a dodgy fuel bowser take a container of known quantity down there (like a 5 or 20 litre jerry) and test it. Servos are allowed some error but not much. If you see a problem contact the ACCC. They love to nail servos for this s**t :evil:

I reported it to Consumer Affairs (wieghts & measures) Nothing came of it though.

My EF XR6 does the same thing.
I have filled it up when the fuel light is on, and yes still after the bowser clicks more than a few times. and still, the gauge only reads 3/4 full.
However the gauge does not go down for a while.
But when i go under 1/2 a tank, it losses petrol like xhute0's feral ute

So after IGN on how long before it updates?
Well if the change is full scale, i.e. zero to full tank, it is 15 mins.

1. some of the fuel goes into the reserve tank
2. if you run your car that low on petrol all the time your going to kill your fuel pump
3. i get better economy when my cars fuller...it seems to take ages to get down to the halfway mark, soon as it hits halfway car seems to guzzle it.
