Buy an XH!
It'd probably cost no more, and you get a better motor.

I read that the XH had 400 new parts from the XG and only 200 were interchangable with the EF , it would be a big job to do but they do look good but maybey I am biased,
Now an EL front end on an XH that would be interesting Deanjorr

can be done on the xd - xf but there was a guy with a XD ute with the xh xr frontend but the wheel sat further back into the guards and looks funny but yes can be done with time and effort and be easyer to just get a XH be cheaper

XH looks like EF but the only things that interchange are headlights and bar, the guards they produced for the xh are different as well as the bonnet. Just look at wheel arch and body line when you get the two models together you will see what I mean

it can be done but the whole radiator support is different.
it'd be a big job, better off buying an xh.

Still different. All above is correct right down to getting an xh instead. Mine goes like a rocket (and is standard engine wise) and looks pretty good too (I think!!)

Anything can be done I've seen photos in ford mags with an x series ute with a BAxr front also a Escort van with the same.
The first change had been done on the release of the E series but that had to be corrected at cost of $2200 on an artical in a mag I read once I think Street Machine. The reality isthe cost and your skill. Darren
