I'm babysitting my bro's car for a year while he's overseas and the hoodlining has sagged to the point it is annoying to drive.
How hard is it to repair... or should I just take it to a motor trimmer and save myself heaps of grief? |

motor trimmer!!! easy
i think to do it properly u have to remove the lining clean the roof a bit and uses contact cement and put ti all back together....

i got one fixed in an eb i took it out it costed $80

Go to the wrecker and buy a new one. I think they are like $50-$100 (cheap from u-pull-it). You have to take everything off like the rear view mirror, sun visors, all the plastic crap on the pillars then pull the old hood lining out and put the new one in.
Cause its ur bros car just get a hand full of thumb tacks and push them in and that should hold it up untill he is back.

I was going to remove the roof lining using this link for guidance
http://www.fordmods.com/forums/documents.php?doc=61 Then I was going to use some spray on adhesive, and a fat paint brush to smooth the lining down, to stick it back on.

Its called respect for other peoples property, the car's been entrusted to the lad, so he wants to take care of it. If more people did this we'd all be better off.

It's my brother's car and I treat her as if she were my own (for that matter I would with any car entrusted to me). In this particular case he's also doing me a favour as mine is still off the road whilst undergoing a major transplant. So, whatever attention Edna needs, Edna gets. Thanks for that link, dodgie - I was a bit worried about pulling it out, not knowing what to expect. Doesn't sound to hard... just need a full day I think. |
