does anyone know if the EL xr8 dash would be compatible with my EF GLI wiring harness? just want it for the oil and amp gauges and the steering wheel.

You need to add an oil pressure switch for the sports dash. The tachometer would need adjusting if you own a six cylinder (as the dash is from an XR8). The steering wheel would change over without any trouble, and the trip computer would require extra wires to run it properly.

thanks for that, i was thinking there would be some fiddling with the dash as per the fairlane dash mod. but i was thinking of either trying to use the original cluster and adding the gauges etc. ill see if i can buy the pressure switch as i doubt that it would cost a hell of a lot. cheers for that.

The sports/mid cluster will plug right in, just need to swap your oil switch for an oil sender (<$50 from Ford spares) and it'll work.
Don't know if the tacho will be wrong between an 8 and a 6. As the single is from the ECU is just a pulse per revolution, shouldn't matter if there was 8 or 6 cylinders in it.
